Nationwide Concessions
- For the 2010-11 school year, GCAAB has once again entered into a 10-event agreement with Delaware North, LLC to work concessions at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus. Although the commitment is for 10 events, we will be able to add additional events as they are offered.
- As a condition of the agreement, each volunteer needs to complete a training session conducted by the vendor.
- The training is held at the Nationwide Arena. The training will take just a couple of hours.
- We are blessed that Dean and Neisha Grubaugh will continue to coordinate this effort, so you know it will be fun and it will be done well!
- You don't need to commit to the entire 10-events (or more). We just ask that you be willing to be flexible and work as often as you feel led. There are a couple of levels of service at the event: Group Leader(s) and Group Members.
UpcomingTraining dates are:
- Tues Sept 7
- Thurs Sept 16
- Tues Sept 21
- Tues Oct 5
- Tues Oct 12
- Tues Oct 19
Training is from 5:45 -10 pm, there is no addmission after 6 pm. Classes are in the Activity Room at Nationwide Arena, directly across from the Fifth Third Bank entrance on Nationwide Blvd. The first 150 names phone in by all organizations will be admitted and all names must be on a list to be admitted this year. Please keep in mind that this is exactly the type of fund raising we need to be a part of as the boosters works to make our athletic program better. This requires no outlay of money for supplies or additional expenses. This is all profit and the proceeds will more effectively and efficiently benefit our student-athletes. We had a great deal of fun and earn needed funds last year and everyone is wecome to participate. Please prayerfully consider your participation. 2010 Varsity Soccer Preview!
The GCA Varsity Soccer Team will have their first game of the season on Tuesday, August 31st at Columbus Torah Academy. With only 3 returning starters (Paul Hopler - Sr, Brandon Pound - Jr, Robert Rose - Jr), this will be a rebuiling season for new Head Coach Brenton Allen. Coach Allen, a former Granville HS and Wooster College soccer player himself, will be taking over for Eric Zimmerman who retired at the end of last season. Although the number of players on the team this season is relatively low, Coach Allen has been working hard to get the Team ready to play.
The GCA Varsity players are Seniors - Lucas Canter, Corey Freeman, Paul Hopler and Tim Ianni; Juniors - Joshua Humphrey, Brandon Pound, Robert Rose and Kyle Streicher; Sophomores - Jason Ashcraft, Daniel Coplin, Camren Maierle and Braden Mull; Freshmen - Thailor Peterson.
Please come out and support your GCA Varsity Soccer Lions for yet another successful season!
Middle School Soccer Preview
Hello soccer fans! The 2010 MS Soccer team is shaping up to be a real solid club. We lost only two 8th graders from last fall's COAL ( Central Ohio Athletic League) League Championship finalist team, and what was once a young squad has blossomed into a seasoned and talented team.
7th grader Captain and center mid Jeffrey Yohman will lead a potent offfense with 7th graders Reed Haga and Jake Coplin (forwards), and Abi Rose and Joel Foxall (attacking mids). Newcomer Ben Wittel (8th) will be our talented utility player at A-mid and stopper.
The all female defensive backfield is lead by 8th grade Captain Tessy Geiss at sweeper, and Emily Slater (8th) and Erin Adkins (7th) at fullbacks and Jaidyn Bias (7th) at stopper. Stellar keeper duties will be managed by Captain Luke Bauer (8th).
Our seasoned outside midfield squad is lead by Lauren Keiser (8th) and Ken Keck (7th), with Jay Chapin (8th) and newcomer Carter Mull (7th) providing valuable minutes.
Three talented and experienced 6th graders, Emily Taylor, Ally Slater, and Caleb Large will be adding in to the mix as they learn the system and adjust to the speed of play.
The gang showed their prowess and progress against Granville B as they defeated the Blue Aces 3-1 in pre-season scrimmage Thursday night. Reed Haga had 2 goals, and Jake Coplin added a goal. Luke Bauer had 2 saves. Jeffrey Yohman and Joel Foxall each had an assist. We next face Granville A Blue Aces on Tuesday night at 6:30 at BrynDu.
So GCA nation, come out and see your GCA Lions in action as they seek to repeat as COAL League Championship finalists for the 3rd year, and finally to take the crown as Champions! They face a tough league and non league schedule, but we have just the team to bring home the hardware. The schedule is posted on the web site, and will be televised nationally on ABC.
See you on the pitch! Here we go LIONS!!
